Dear Linton Public School Families,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the summer months. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I want to inform you of an important change that will affect all students at Linton Public School.
The North Dakota Legislature recently passed a law prohibiting student cell phone use in schools during instructional time—commonly referred to as "bell to bell." In response to this new state mandate, the Linton School Board has officially adopted a new cell phone policy, and the district administration has developed corresponding administrative regulations to ensure smooth and fair implementation.
Beginning this school year, students will be expected to have their phones turned off and stored in their lockers during from the first bell at 8:25 AM to the last bell of the day at 3:30 PM. Our administrative regulations outline clear expectations, storage guidelines, how to communicate with parents during the day, and a tiered system of consequences for violations. These regulations will be reviewed with students and staff during the first days of school to ensure clarity and consistency.
We understand that this is a shift for many students and families, and we are committed to working together to make this transition as smooth as possible. We encourage open dialogue at home about the purpose of this policy and how it supports learning. Our administration is also available to answer any questions and provide guidance.
The full policy and administrative regulations can be found at the following links located on our school website:

Thank you for your continued support of Linton Public School. We are excited for the all of the students to join us on August 19th for the upcoming school year!
Warm regards,
Michael Schirado
