🦁 2026–2027 Back-to-School Family FAQ

We are excited to welcome our Lions back to school! Below are answers to some of the most common questions families may have as we begin another great year at Linton Public School.

⏰ What time do the school doors open?

School doors open at 8:00 a.m. each morning when student supervision begins.

Please do not drop students off before 8:00 a.m., as staff supervision is not available prior to that time.

🚗 Where should I drop off my elementary student?

Preschool and elementary students may be dropped off at the West Elementary doors beginning at 8:00 a.m.

A staff member will be at the door each morning to greet students and help them enter the building.

For student safety, parents and visitors should not enter the building through the West Elementary doors during morning drop-off. This is only to provide the safest environment possible for our students.

🚪 Where should parents and visitors enter the school?

Parents and visitors who need to enter the building should use the designated Middle School or High School entrance and report directly to the appropriate office.

If you are picking up an elementary student during the school day, office staff will contact your child and have them meet you at the designated office.

🍳 What time is breakfast served?

Breakfast begins at 8:00 a.m. and is available to all students.

Students participating in breakfast may enter when the doors open at 8:00 a.m. No Breakfast on the 1st day of School. See you Wednesday for breakfast.

☀️ What do elementary students do before school?

We believe movement is a great way to start the school day!

When weather permits, students will spend time outdoors before school. As temperatures get colder, students will have designated indoor areas where they can be active before beginning their day.

Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather, as we will be outside whenever conditions allow.

🤒 What should I do if my child is sick?

If your child will be absent due to illness, please call the school office to report the absence.

If we have not received notification and your child does not arrive at school, the appropriate school office will contact you to verify the absence.

🩺 What if my child has an appointment?

If your child will be leaving for or arriving late because of an appointment, please call the office or send a note in advance. Medical notes are required for appointments.

Students should check in or out through the appropriate school office when arriving late or leaving during the school day.

✏️ How do students sign in or out during the school day?

Students arriving after the school day begins should sign in at their appropriate office.

Students leaving before the end of the school day must also sign out.

Middle and high school students must have parent/guardian permission before leaving the building.

Elementary students leaving during the school day must be picked up by a parent, guardian, or authorized individual at the designated office.

These procedures help us know where our students are throughout the school day and keep everyone safe.

🚙 Where do I pick up my elementary student after school?

Elementary students who are being picked up or walking home will exit through the West Elementary doors at 3:30 p.m.

Students riding Emmons County Transit or district buses will exit through the designated bus doors.

Staff members will be outside helping students safely get to their parents, vehicles, or buses.

Please do not drive through the bus loading area while buses are preparing for departure. Students who need to cross the street will be directed to designated crosswalks.

🚘 Where do I pick up my middle school student?

Families may use the Middle School parking lot for afternoon pickup.

To help traffic move safely and efficiently, please enter through the west entrance and exit through the east entrance to maintain a continuous flow.

💰 How do I check my child's lunch balance or make a payment?

🏀 What are the expectations for students attending school activities?

We LOVE seeing our Lions in the stands supporting their classmates! 🦁

Students attending athletic events are encouraged to stay in the event area, stay seated, cheer positively, and demonstrate Lion Pride throughout the game. At the finish of the game, do your part to clean up our stands and take your garbage to the nearest trash can.

Our students, families, and community create an incredible atmosphere at Linton Public School events, and we appreciate everyone's help in keeping our activities positive, safe, and enjoyable.
