Linton Public School Announcement

March 17, 2020

Dear Families,

What a unique and trying time we are in. We recognize how incredibly difficult this situation is for many families. The administration team at LPS has been working hard to identify meaningful instructional activities for your child to do while he or she is at home for an extended period of time. Our goal in this work is to provide you with activities that are aligned with what your children typically do during the school day, recognizing it will not be the same as being in the classroom, but everything should be familiar or user friendly.

With that being said, our goal for this week is that families enjoy our spring break. Take advantage of a few extra days to hang out and enjoy each other’s company. Go on a nature walk, play cards, or watch a movie together.

Pending the governor’s decision about school closure, the following plan may go into effect Tuesday, March 24th. To plan for a potential extended closure, we have worked to update our website to make it as user-friendly as possible for students, parents, and staff.  Once you are on the home page of our website https://www.linton.k12.nd.us/ click on the blue E-learning link located in the top right corner. Once there, you will find “teacher names” and “courses” that are aligned to your child’s grade level and then links to the online learning activities that are being prepared by each teacher. Located in the left column are links to free resources or resources that students have school accounts to.  These resources are available for you, as parents, to have options for instructional activities for your students. Some of the websites may be utilized by staff in their weekly lesson plans as well.

We understand that this is uncharted territory.  However, it is our mission each and every day to provide students with learning opportunities during this time to prevent regression. We certainly know there is a lot going on for families right now and recognize you may not be able to complete all of the activities given in a day...that is completely fine! If your child experiences any frustration, please feel free to have them discontinue the activity or make adjustments to it.

Know also that we will continue to work on and tweak this plan as we move forward.  Teachers are working extremely hard this week to collaborate and develop student friendly plans that are aligned to standards.  You can expect to see materials in teacher folders by Tuesday, March 24th.

We appreciate your partnership as we navigate this unknown territory together. Please stay tuned as we continue to release more guidance in the upcoming days.  Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns along the way.

With Great Appreciation,

Linton Administration
